Santai may be equally well known for its book exchange as for its accommodation. Started due to the owner's thirst for fresh literature, Santai was the first book exchange in Lombok and has become a book-lover's paradise. Guests can not only choose from a large number of titles, but from a variety of secluded reading spots as well.

One of the favourite spots is the library itself. This outdoor, covered area, close to the beach, has plenty of comfortable cushion seating, fresh tea and coffee, and oil-lamp lighting for night reading (See pictures to left).
